Friction Stir Welding Symposium
The use of Friction Stir welding continues to grow. It is now a mature process for aluminium, and is seeing rapid progress in many other engineering alloys.
Numerous organisations have benefitted from the economic advantages of the FSW process, and this symposium will provide the latest information from industrial and academic experts from around the world in this and related technologies.
About the Ninth International Friction Stir Welding Symposium

This will be the major friction stir welding event in 2012, and it is planned to present over 80 papers in oral sessions, plus many others in poster sessions. It presents an unrivalled opportunity to meet leading authorities on FSW including researchers, practitioners, customers and suppliers from around the world.

You can take a look at the new programme for the FSW symposium, but please note that content and timings may change.

Aspects covered in the symposium will include:

  • New developments in the process and control
  • Improved tool technology
  • Fundamentals and modelling
  • Metallurgical characteristics
  • Mechanical properties Welding Mg, Cu, steel, Ti etc
  • Welding dissimilar materials
  • Industrial applications
